In order for your business to sponsor an employee under this classification, you must employer must have an established international cultural exchange program. The program must have a cultural component that is designed to give an overview of the attitude, customs, history, heritage, philosophy, tradition and/or other cultural attributes of the employee’s home country. If your program takes place in a public setting where the sharing of culture can be achieved through direct interaction with the American public, you will have an even stronger application.
You will provide practical training and employment to the employee and the employ will share the history, culture, and traditions of his or her home country with the U.S. The employee must be at least 18 years old and be able to communicate effectively about the cultural attributes of the home country.
Q status is good for up to 15 months. When the time is done, your employee must leave within 30 days and you cannot hire the same person until he or she spend 1 year outside the United States. This classification does not have a provision for any spouse or children to accompany you.
